Black

9 November, 2015 Dear Diary, Today I’ll share with you a strange string of experiences that led me to discover a friend and an idol. Perhaps the experiences were not new but I had never before given them much thought. Today at school, the art teacher asked us to make a colourful scenery. I drew a landscape with flowers, trees, a river, mountains and a hut. Then I took out my crayons and started using each of them one by one. I wanted all my flowers to be of different colours. My teacher smiled at me when she crossed my seat and saw me using each colour at a time. However, the next time she crossed me, she stopped at my desk. “Why are you using the black crayon in the flower?” she asked. “Ma’am, you had asked us to make a colourful scenery. Therefore I am using all colours.” My teacher took the black crayon from my hand and placed it back into the box. She announced in the class that black colour will only be used to outline the elements and will not be used elsewhere. That

Freedom

Hundred years ago, an Indian baby had been born He had inhaled the air of an enslaved land “I pray he sees better times,” the mother had said While holding him closely with her hand. The nation was then under a foreign rule Its people were slaves in their own kingdom They had to work towards glorifying a foreign nation And they dreamt the usual dream of freedom . The brave Indian boy along with others Lost his life in the struggle to free the motherland No other baby would be born to serve No foreigner would walk a ruler upon their sand. Years later, another Indian baby opened his eyes And inhaled the air of the free land “I pray he gets all that he wants in life,” said the mother As he was passed from hand to hand. The child played on the Indian soil He got educated in the Indian way He had the freedom to do what he chose to He could express what he wished to say. The boy read about the struggle for freedom He learnt the details off

Ice-Cream

“Papa, can we please go out somewhere today?” “Darling I am busy, I have work pending,” you say. Yet your heart can’t walk upon your daughter’s dream After a while, you agree upon going for an ice cream . She wears a wide smile, her eyes twinkle with elation “I’ll be ready in two minutes”, is the declaration. “Mumma, please take out my new pink dress And also those shoes that go with it best.” Meanwhile you receive a call from your boss Some flaw in your report has made him cross. “Sir I did what you had instructed me to do” But he is too aggravated to listen to you. “Is something the matter?” asks your wife You shout as you narrate all the chaos in your life. Your little daughter has been standing at the door The wide smile, the joy in her eyes can be seen no more. She had been waiting for you to compliment her on her dress And also the shoes that went with it best. Somebody at papa’s office had crushed her dream Today was not the day for an ice

Human Mind- Unknown!

Human Mind! God’s splendid creation You can be read by anyone, yet no one What you think might come before everyone Why you think so requires realization You hide within yourself your emotion Though you crave for it to be known by someone Then you feel you are understood by none And quietly dream of the desired affection. Well, if you open your eyes And take a look at the world around You will see you are not alone These thoughts that you wish to disguise In every mind, they can be found And what is known by all, is named unknown .

Insufficient Love

God's Angel looked down from heaven All by herself night and day, She carried souls that were born And blessed by Death who lay. God's Devil looked up from hell All by himself night and day, He carried souls to be punished For lives led in the wrong way. Once, God called upon the Devil To decide the fate of a soul Though the soul's early life was wrong Later, righteousness became his goal. God considered every action of his “Hell it is”, was God's conclusion But as Devil lifted the pleading soul Angel entered to declare her objection. Devil's eyes met those of Angel's Captivated by her, he stood mesmerized As she put to words, her sweet thoughts, "Isn’t Heaven for its kindness recognized?" God gave Angel's suggestion a thought And realized that she was right The thankful soul fell on Angel's feet Even Devil's dark thoughts saw light. Angel and Devil took leave from God But not
